The Program is being managed by a consortium led by Origin and includes Delfin Lend Lease, BP Solar, ANZ, Big Switch Projects and the City of Salisbury. The Cities of Tea Tree Gully, and Playford and Adelaide City Council also play a very important part in delivering the program.
Adelaide Solar City brings together solar power, smart metering technologies, energy efficiency, and new approaches to electricity pricing to develop more energy sustainable communities.

An important aspect of the Adelaide Solar City trial is to collect real time data from Adelaide Solar City participants. The information collected will help the Australian Government to form energy policies that work to most effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions and encourage more sustainable use of energy.
The project is receiving $15 million dollars in funding from the Australia Government.
As part of the six-year trial, households and businesses in the trial area are encouraged to make changes, and actively contribute to a more sustainable future at both a personal and community level.
